Wahoo KICKR V6 Smart Trainer

The Wahoo KICKR V6 turns your own bike into a seriously capable indoor training setup. Remove the rear wheel, attach the bike and you're set for virtual rides, structured workouts and hard race sessions. Power accuracy sits at ±1%, resistance reacts automatically to compatible apps, and there's 2,200W on tap when the session starts getting spicy.

You can have it set up in two ways. Stick with the cassette version and you'll get an 11-speed 11–28 cassette with familiar mechanical shifting. Or go with Zwift Cog and Click, which swaps the cassette for a single sprocket and uses a handlebar-mounted controller to change gears in Zwift.

You get a more natural feel on the bike too. KICKR AXIS feet add up to 5° of side-to-side movement, with the bike moving naturally as you pedal. The 16lb flywheel adds a smooth sense of momentum as your pace changes. And for training apps, you've got Wahoo X with SYSTM workouts and training plans, plus Zwift, ROUVY, TrainingPeaks Virtual, MyWhoosh and Kinomap.

How accurate is the Wahoo KICKR V6?
KICKR V6 measures power to ±1% accuracy and calibrates automatically as you ride. There’s no regular manual spindown to add to your pre-ride routine. It also tracks speed, distance and cadence alongside power.

Will my bike fit the KICKR V6?
KICKR V6 works with 130 mm and 135 mm quick-release bikes, plus 12 x 142 mm and 12 x 148 mm thru axles. The relevant standard adapters are supplied. Drivetrain compatibility needs a little more attention, particularly with Shimano CUES/LinkGlide, SRAM XD/XDR, Campagnolo and Micro Spline setups.

What’s the difference between the cassette and Zwift Cog versions?
The cassette version comes with an 11-speed 11–28 cassette and uses your bike’s mechanical gears. Zwift Cog replaces the cassette with a single sprocket, with virtual gear changes handled through Zwift Click. Got a couple of bikes using the KICKR? Zwift Cog is handy here.

Does the KICKR V6 work with Zwift?
Yes. KICKR V6 works with Zwift and also supports Zwift virtual shifting when paired with Zwift Cog, current firmware and compatible Zwift controls. Race Mode can broadcast power over Wi-Fi up to ten times faster during virtual racing.

Which other training apps work with KICKR V6?
There’s plenty of choice beyond Zwift. KICKR V6 works with Wahoo X, ROUVY, TrainingPeaks Virtual, MyWhoosh and Kinomap. Wahoo X also covers SYSTM workouts and training plans, with full access requiring a paid membership after the trial.

Does KICKR V6 need calibrating before every ride?
No. Automatic calibration takes care of this during use, with no regular manual spindown needed.

How realistic does the KICKR V6 feel?
The 7.3 kg flywheel adds momentum to the pedal stroke, and KICKR AXIS feet introduce up to 5° of side-to-side movement. Virtual gradients range from -10% to 20%, with resistance changing as the route rises and falls.

What happens if I stop during an ERG workout?
ERG Easy Ramp gradually brings you back towards your target power after a pause. You don’t jump straight back into the full resistance the moment you start pedalling again.

How much space and weight should I expect?
KICKR V6 weighs 22 kg and feels solid once your bike is on. Need to move it? Just grab the carry handle.

Full access to Wahoo SYSTM workouts and training plans requires a paid Wahoo X membership after the trial.

The supplied 11-speed 11–28 cassette isn’t compatible with Shimano CUES/LinkGlide drivetrains. Other cassette or Zwift Cog setups may be compatible depending on your bike.

The stock HG freehub works with compatible 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12-speed cassettes with the correct setup. SRAM XD/XDR and compatible Campagnolo cassettes need a separate Wahoo freehub. Shimano Micro Spline isn’t directly compatible.

Zwift Cog can be fitted to KICKR V6, but virtual shifting requires KICKR V6 (2022), current firmware and compatible Zwift controls. Earlier KICKR generations don’t support Zwift virtual shifting.
