Four weeks ago, I got some advice about punching bags in Hamburg and ordered the Taurus "Boxing Trainer" freestanding punching bag. I was impressed by the material and its stability. My family loves it. The material seems very robust, and even my husband enjoys using it. Tip: Get some hand wraps to prevent bruising. I would definitely buy this punching bag again.

After a long break from training (Taekwondo), I was looking for a freestanding punching bag for boxing and kicking techniques. I have no experience with freestanding punching bags, as I've only ever trained on hanging bags from various manufacturers. After watching some comparison videos, I was unsure about: - whether the punching bag might tip over with hard kicks - whether the punching bag moves slowly but surely during training - the firmness of the material - how the bag swings And from reviewing the product specifications: - whether the base is too bulky and might get in the way during close-quarters combat - whether water is sufficient or if sand needs to be added Overall, I'm very satisfied. Regarding the points: For practical reasons, I filled the base with water; the bag is standing on smooth tiles. The weight of the water-filled base seems perfectly adequate. In this setup, the punching bag can just barely be moved, but it remains stable. The bag doesn't move an inch during my current training sessions, not at all, neither with kicks nor boxing. It doesn't tip over either. I don't want to completely rule out the possibility that it might move with hard push kicks, but it seems unlikely unless you're deliberately trying to make it happen. In my opinion, the fact that the bag doesn't move is due not only to the solid, heavy base, but also to the bag's material, which absorbs impacts well, and its springiness. This means the bag swings instead of tipping over. The swing is pleasant and relatively well-damped. This means you can hit the bag again on the first or second swing, and by the third swing, it's almost back to its resting position. The bag's padding is comfortable for foot and hand exercises. The material is so good you could even box on it without gloves. And the last point, regarding the bulky base: When you step into the bag, your feet hit the base. It hasn't bothered me so far, but it's definitely different than with a hanging bag. Compared to a hanging bag, I prefer the freestanding punching bag, except for the issue with my feet hitting the base. The swing is more pleasant, and there are no knocking noises like you get with a typical chain suspension. Overall, a solid freestanding punching bag; I would buy it again.

A good freestanding punching bag; much better for our 14-year-old son than a boxing bag. We didn't fill the base completely with water, but it still holds up well to kicks and punches. A very good investment that's a lot of fun.
